Recovery from addiction involves change and growth on many different levels, encompassing the psychological, physical, emotional, and social domains.
The compulsion to get drugs, take drugs and experience the effect of drugs has dominated every waking moment and has taken the place of everything they used to enjoy doing. It has disrupted how they function in their family lives, at work, and in the community, and has made them more likely to suffer from other serious illnesses.
Due to the array of needs of every patient it is hard to give an exact time frame for recovery. HCI staff focuses on the holistic needs of the patient which can vary due to many factors including: age, onset of addiction, length of addiction, amount of drugs used, mental health needs, and potential drug induced organic brain damage
